Room 322, Monday Morning

Anders had left his room with plans of buying breakfast in town, but was faced with a dilemma before he even made it off campus grounds.

Namely: Why buy breakfast when you could break a chunk off a building and feast like a king for free?

He worried briefly about whether he might bring the castle tumbling down, but the castle had so many bits of architectural fancy on it that it wasn't hard to find a ball of gingerbread atop a railing that seemed to serve no function at all. He whistled as he came back to the room, pound of gingerbread wrapped in his handkerchief and ready to be feasted upon.

You know, Dante had given real thought to just not leaving his bed for the next twelve hours, but - sigh - prep had to be done and shit.

"Is it just me, or is this an accident waiting to happen?" he said, as he wandered back into the room and immediately tore a chunk of gingerbread out of the wall.

Ada rapped at the edge of the door, something hidden behind her back. "H'llo third floor!" she called, peeking in. "Anyone home?"

"We're doomed," Anders agreed lazily. "But at least we'll go to our doom with full bellies."

He looked askance at Dante. "Do you have to take it out of our wall, though?"

"I am," Anders called back around a mouthful of gingerbread. He swallowed before adding, "Hi, Ada. What's going on?"

Dante shrugged. "Who cares?" he said, tossing it in his mouth. He swallowed. "... Hey, are you free on Wednesday?"

"Couple things," she said easily, wandering in. "First is early delivery of presents, 'cause I don't know who's stayin' around while school's closed an' who is runnin' away elsewhere."

She tossed a jar of something red and shimmery on to Dante's bed -- he'd find it eventually -- and presented a jar filled with deep blue shimmer and a big red bow on it to Anders. "Don't let your roommate steal it all."

"This isle does not get less bizarre the longer I stay." Hyacinthe was lounging in the doorway of room 322, licking frosting off his fingers and grinning at Anders. "Though this bit of oddness, I find myself minding not at all."

"The person who will be cold if you eat through the wall cares," Anders answered. "And I think so. It's dead between semesters."

"I'm not going anywhere, but I like presents," Anders volunteered, reaching out to take the jar. "Sorry I don't have anything for you."

He glanced at the jar for a moment, then at Ada with an apologetic smile. "Is this glitter? Doesn't the island have enough?"

"So me and Ades were thinking about dragging you, Hya and Iz over to Baltimore to have some fun," Dante said, grinning. "Maybe hit a strip club... Ada's been picking up some money..."

"Why am I not surprised you have a taste for sweets?" Anders said, grinning back. "Hello there. Feel free to nibble on my walls."

"That doesn't sound like a half-bad night," Anders said easily. "I'm in."

"Island's glitter ain't edible! Usually." ADA. "I make it with honey-powder so it stays nice without gettin' too sticky, an' since it's mostly sugar it washes out a lot easier than th' plastic stuff."

She'd spent the entire weekend baking sugar-glitter. So much baking.

Dante grinned. "Good," he said. "Cause I think Ada scored us enough for one hell of a hotel room."

"Oh," Anders said, turning the jar and watching the blue sugar catch the light.

Then, as he thought about the implications: "Oh. So you could use it anywhere you liked."

On the body, he meant. Not, like, in the room vs. in the halls. But his tone probably made that obvious.

"With a really big bed or three?" Anders asked, laughing. "Maybe a hot tub?"

"Bingo. And maybe a second room with a door if anyone wants to hang out by themselves and be boring," Dante offered.

"Just your walls?" Hyacinthe asked with enough good humor that it could be left as a joke did Anders wish. "I could have just stayed in my own room for that."

He sauntered in, seeing the hole where Dante had snagged a handful. "I see you've already begun making inroads here."

"Well, you should probably ask b'fore usin' it on somethin' that ain't yours," she mused, eyes sparkling with mischief, "--but that's th' general idea."

She gestured to the glitter covering her arms. "It's what I wear most days."

"Probably a good idea," Anders nodded. "I mean, I'm not planning on being boring, but I've never been to a real strip club. I might get overwhelmed and need to take a moment."

"Unless you see something else you like," Anders said, and winked before glancing over to the wall. "Oh, but blame my roommate for that. I was a good boy and didn't eat anything that could let the cold in."

"It's pretty," Anders said, eyes appreciatively traveling up those pale, shiny arms. "I've noticed you like glitter. Didn't realize you made your own."

"You really haven't?" Dante's eyebrows came together comically. "Seriously shoulda fixed that before."

Anders shook his head. "Not sober, anyhow. To be fair, I've been in enough brothels that I doubt it'll be too much of a shock."

"Yeah, but in brothels you've got to pay to see anything, right?"
