33 Apocalypse Ave, Late Sunday Afternoon

Anders' cooking skills mostly stalled out at grilled cheese and cans of soup, but the holiday season and its influx of guests had him wanting to try something new. (He was going to blame it on Kathy's influence.) He stopped by Turtle & Canary for supplies and then set up a baking station in the kitchen.

First on the list of things to try: cornflake Christmas wreaths. They seemed easy right up to the part where he started trying to shape the melted marshmallows and cereal into wreaths and found out exactly how fast a mage could get marshmallow all over every surface in the kitchen.

Kathy took more time with that fingerful than was strictly needed, sucking all the butter and marshmallow off very slowly, eyes on him the entire time.

"Pretty tasty," she said, giving her finger a final lick after she slid it out of her mouth. "Have you not tried it yet?"

Ada’d had a bit to remind herself — repeatedly— that Raven wasn’t that Raven and didn’t need to know about any of it. It was over. Everything was FINE. And Ada was very good at selling a fiction and making it look like truth.

“Hey yourself,” she said easily. “Y’all got a heck of a setup goin’ on here.”

Ada pretended to think about it for a second. “I’ll pay you in kisses?”

Raven shook her head. "This was all these guys. I'm barely even ever here."

"What, they bad roommates or somethin'? 'Cause I ain't above wacking th' boys upside th' head if'n they're being stupid," Ada offered, because... this was Raven's house too, right?

"Well, if you're going to pay me in kisses."

This was all going to end in 'wreaths' that looked like genitals.

Raven laughed. "I appreciate that! But no, I just like spending the night on the preserve, mostly. I'm not . . . the best at people, anymore."

"I ain't th' best at Houses," Ada shared, laughing. "All shut-off from th' sun an' fresh air an' noise of th' world. I had a hard enough time adjustin' to th' dorms! Th' preserve would be nicer if'n it weren't so damn cold out."

"Why?" Anders asked, resting his hand on the side of Dante's ass. "Are you worried she'll go after your booty?"

"A little bit," Anders admitted, taking a fingerful of his own. "But you make it look tastier."

"Truly, this is a marvelous age," Anders joked.

"I don't," Anders said, mock-offended. "But Kathy and Dante always act like they may never see food again."

"Or yours," Dante said, smirking at him. "Or Kathy's..."

"Of course not," Anders agreed, barely biting back a smile. "I'll have to say a few extra prayers for forgiveness tonight. For cookies."

Raven shrugged. "Cold's never bothered me. Which is good, since I'm usually only pretending to be wearing clothes."

"That's gotta be handy," Ada sighed. "'M almost always cold."

"It's the holidays," Anders smirked back. "Isn't that all about sharing booty with those less fortunate?"

"Right. 'S just Dante an' Kathy," she teased. "'S not like you got magic t' power or nothing."

"Since it's just them, we'll only need a few hundred of these."

"Hey, if the booty isn't complaining," Dante said, and now it was his turn to swat Anders' ass.

And look, kissing the cook was just tradition, right?

"I dunno," Kathy said, "I think you make it look tastier still."

And then she was trying to maneuver his finger into her mouth instead.

...To steal the cornflake mix, sure.

"I gather a lot of people are?" Raven said. "Kathy always refuses to come out and visit me in the preserve if it's less than, like, 70 degrees out."

"I don't eat that much more than anybody else," Anders protested, laughing. "As long as 'anybody else' is your average ravenous teenage boy."

"Mmmm," Anders said against Dante's mouth, baking project forgotten for a second. "This is going to turn into a show if you keep kissing me like that."

Anders let his finger be guided into her mouth, rubbing it over the delicate surfaces of her lips before making contact with her tongue.

"Maybe you're right," he mused. "But I love watching you use your mouth."

Kathy's lips closed over his finger, making even more of a show with his digit that with hers. "Not as much as I love using it on you," she said when she finally pulled away, eyes dark.
