33 Apocalypse Ave, Tuesday Afternoon
For Anders the little demon, Halloween was a day full of his usual mischief. Sprinkling a little itching powder in some underwear drawers, sneaking into a few houses to turn the thermostat three degrees too hot, and -- just to cap off the day -- blowing on some mainland traffic lights to turn them red at inconvenient times.
He was still chuckling over the last one as he let himself into the house and sat down on the couch, tail extended along the cushions. He needed to take a TV break before it was time for trick-or-treating and some real fun.

"Nooooooooo," Kathy intoned slowly, the words taking their toll in concentration. She was also pouting. "Roooooodent."
The squirrels she'd managed to pounce on on her way to Eliot's and the rabbit brains he'd so kindly left her from his hunt that morning.

"Ew," Dante commented. "So maybe we don't let you leave the house again. Shit can't be healthy."

"Braaaaaaaaains," she pointed out. What was she supposed to do for dinner, then? Especially since some people got weirded out when she stored them in the fridge. EVEN IN TUPPERWARE.

"Braaaaaaaaaaaains," she said stubbornly, hugging her lunch to her chest in case Dante tried to take it. "Huuuuungry."
No surprises there.

"No," Dante said. "Taking you back to your room. Spend the rest of the day watching cartoons or something."
He reached for her arm.

The one night of the year where the monsters were free to roam like people! And Anders had so many tricks planned! And she even had a costume!
...It was a sheet with two holes cut into it. Look, zombies weren't particularly creative, okay?

Granted, not if one were a Nephilim who could heal that while snarking about it, but, like, in general.
Kathy struggled against his grip, but she couldn't break it when she had full flexibility and muscles that weren't atrophied. In her current state she didn't stand a chance, especially since she was clinging to her container of brainsadillas. "Noooooooo!" she said, batting at his hand. Some of the stitches holding her finger on snapped and the digit flapped loosely at him. "Noooooo! Whyyyyyy?"

He tugged her into the room and shut the door behind them.

(Secret tip, both hands were her snatchin' hand!)
"Reeeeeeal." She was real! Real and corporeal and nowhere near as bright as she'd been when she was alive, but that had been years ago. And she talked less this way, too. Why wasn't he happy?

Which elicited no reaction because, again, zombie.
"Yooooou weeeird," she retorted. Belatedly. Witty verbal ripostes were also absent from this model.

You wanted to stick her in her room instead of letting her wander on the night of all nights? You could entertain her yourself, then.
Reading from the collection of brightly-colored children's books she had; the only books that she was capable of comprehending.

Dante, you were being horrifically unreasonable, even for a breather.

Spoiler: he would not be going to them.

He was not allowed to lock her in her room and then go to all the parties she'd been planning on going to!

But that was a very complicated thought to have, never mind actually say aloud. "Paaaaaarrrrrrrtyyy," she said, pointing at him again. That should get the point across, right?

"Yooooooou gooooooo!" she protested, trying to get him to acknowledge how arbitrary and unfair his standards were. It wasn't like she was planning on eating any monster brains! Just human ones!

Which was totally all right for consumption, right?
