33 Apocalypse Ave, Saturday Morning

It wasn’t often that Anders was the first out of bed on a weekend, but he’d somehow managed it today. He slipped out of bed without disturbing Dante or Kathy and went for a rambling walk across the icy island, keeping an eye peeled for anything that might work in potions.

He didn’t find any plants worth gathering — he supposed that was too much to expect for February, anyhow — but he did find still-warm croissants at Jeff, GoB’s, and he reckoned that was almost as good. He put the pastries into a basket and started the coffee, enjoying the moment of peace.

"There's a basket, there's food in the basket," Dante argued.

And kissed him again, because it felt like a waste not to.

"Now I know it doesn't take much to impress you with a picnic," Anders returned.

And kissed Dante yet another time, because he had very nice lips.

"Hey, I'm easy, everybody knows that," Dante said, sliding an arm around his waist. "'s cold in there without you, you know."

Kathy's feet were freezing. All the time.

"Poor baby," Anders teased. "I'm going to have to warm you up now, aren't I?"

"Gotta make up for all the ice Kathy left on me this morning," Dante said, ever so seriously. "Those are the rules."

"Don't I get any say on the rules?" Anders pouted playfully.

"Nope," Dante said. "You gave that up when you ditched me to Ice Feet Hell."

“Should we start making her wear socks to bed?” Anders wondered. “I’m starting to think there’s something wrong with that girl’s circulation.”

"I think it's the California weather thing," Dante said. "They gotta breed them with like, coolant in their veins to deal with that shit."

“And now we have to suffer because of it,” Anders said sadly. “Though I guess there are some compensations.”

Like getting to be in bed with Kathy at all.

"I dunno if last night was compensation enough," Dante said. "I might need a repeat."

He reached past Anders to get a croissant.

"You always need a repeat," Anders chuckled. "Good thing I'm up to the task."

"Are you?" Dante said, raising his eyebrows judgingly right before he stuffed his face. "Still cold here."

"What, am I supposed to sit on your lap while you stuff your face?" Anders asked, as he edged into Dante's personal space.

"That'd be a start," Dante agreed, impertinent smirk on his face.

He'd already stopped eating the second Anders got up close and personal, but details.

“Brat,” Anders teased. “Demanding brat.”

But he was sliding onto Dante’s lap anyhow. It was N awkward fit, but he didn’t mind.

Eh, he still fit. And Dante appreciated the opportunity to slide an arm around Anders' waist and put a hand on his knee.

"Better," he said. "I mean, you're still talking shit, but I'm definitely defrosting."

"Don't defrost too fast," Anders warned. "I don't want to clean a puddle of Dante off the floor."

Dante managed a highly mature snicker. Really.

"Depends on how you play your cards," he said.

"And if I like playing them naked?" Anders asked, which didn't really follow but seemed logical in that moment.

"Then maybe if we wanna make all your wants and don't wants play out at the same time," Dante said practically, "We should grab a shower."

He pressed a kiss against Anders' cheek.

"That'd make it all work, wouldn't it?" Anders asked, equally pragmatic. "I'm up for it if you are."

Emphasis on the up.

"You did get me breakfast," Dante mused. "Fuck it. Let's go. I haven't seen you naked in like, ten hours."

"Poor thing. I don't know how you're getting by," Anders said, and leaned in to kiss the crook of Dante's neck.

"I know," Dante said, grinning. "I got no idea either."

But he was totally the asshole trying to lift Anders up as he got up.
